SVT Mingyu Fan accused the brand employee
A cosmetic brand employee was eventually accused by the police of posting a photo of the group Seventeen Mingyu’s exposure to the commercial shooting site on social media.
According to the industry on the 5th, a SVT Mingyu fan filed a complaint to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul the previous day against A, an employee of L’OCCITANE Korea, a cosmetics brand who posted an exposed photo of Seventeen Mingyu on social media, on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
The SVT Mingyu fan netizen said, “From the fact that an employee of L’OCCITANE Korea expressed his feelings that he “did not delete it because he was anxious” while leaking the unofficial photo to his Instagram account, it is believed that he was aware that it was a “photo that could cause sexual desire or shame,” adding, “The police strongly urge them to immediately launch an investigation and punish the employee.”
Earlier, A captured dozens of photos taken at the time of Mingyu’s commercial shooting on his SNS. This included a picture of Mingyu taking off his top, and A added the phrase, “Mingyu, who occupied a large part of the photo album. I couldn’t erase it because I was nervous, but now I should organize it,” and was criticized by fans as “illegal filming” and “violation of privacy.”
In response, L’OCCITANE Korea immediately posted an apology. “We have no excuse for the recent unofficial photos of L’OCCITANE Ambassador campaign posted on our employee’s Instagram account without permission, and we acknowledge all responsibilities and apologize,” L’OCCITANE Korea said. “We take this matter very seriously, and we sincerely bow down to the artists and fans who were hurt by this incident.”
“We immediately completely excluded the employee from all duties and personnel measures (waiting orders) were implemented,” he said. “We will introduce regular training programs on the importance of copyright, portrait, publicity and privacy rights of brand ambassador artists for all employees to ensure that all employees understand and comply with them thoroughly.”
