Taeyeon Speaks Out After Sudden Cancellation of Japan Concert, Shares Fans’ Frustration with SM Entertainment
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon has openly expressed her disappointment following the abrupt cancellation of her solo 10th anniversary concert, “The TENSE,” which was set to take place in Tokyo. On April 24, she shared a statement from her global fan community on social media, showing support for their calls for answers and compensation from her agency, SM Entertainment.
Fans Demand Clear Explanation and Compensation
Fans criticized SM Entertainment for notifying them of the concert cancellation just two days before the event, calling the announcement “sudden and careless.” Many had already traveled to Japan or were in the process of doing so when the cancellation was announced, causing financial and emotional distress. The fan statement also pointed out that the only official communication on the day of cancellation was a translated notice on the Japanese ticketing website, with no direct message from SM or Taeyeon herself. Fans are calling for a thorough investigation, an official apology, and compensation for those affected.

SM Entertainment Cites Equipment Delays, Taeyeon Shares Her Heartbreak
SM Entertainment explained that equipment needed for the Asia tour hadn’t arrived in Japan on time, making it impossible to hold the concert as planned. Despite efforts to find alternatives, the company said they had no choice but to cancel. Taeyeon, meanwhile, shared her own feelings, saying, “I hate this whole situation and I’m sorry. The concert, which was built on so much effort and hope, was suddenly taken away. It feels like it was stolen from me. I don’t even know how to put into words how empty and lost I feel.”
