JYP Entertainment Addresses VCHA KG Contract Termination Lawsuit
JYP Entertainment has officially responded to the contract termination lawsuit filed by Kiera Grace Mather (KG), a member of the group VCHA. On December 9th, JYP Entertainment released a statement regarding KG’s lawsuit and social media posts, saying, “We are addressing the situation concerning Kiera Grace Mather’s legal action and public statements on social media platforms.”
The timeline of events began in May 2024 when KG left the group’s accommodation and requested discussions through legal representation. In response, JYP temporarily suspended VCHA’s activities to explore solutions with KG’s representatives. Recently, JYP has been awaiting a response from KG’s team.
JYP’s Response and VCHA KG contract
JYP expressed disappointment with KG’s decision to pursue litigation, stating, “We deeply regret that KG has chosen to file a lawsuit and publicly share false and exaggerated information. This action has potentially harmful consequences for other VCHA members and our company.” The entertainment company plans to take necessary measures to protect VCHA members and JYP from further damage.
On December 8th, KG posted on her personal social media account: “After experiencing mistreatment from certain staff members, I’ve decided to terminate my contract with JYP Entertainment and leave the company. I filed a lawsuit yesterday.” KG claimed that the group’s working and living conditions negatively impacted mental health, leading to her decision to leave in May 2024. She is currently awaiting contract termination.
This legal dispute could potentially affect VCHA’s upcoming album and projects planned for early 2025. JYP Entertainment is committed to minimizing disruptions to the group’s activities while addressing the legal matters at hand.
The case highlights the ongoing challenges in the K-pop industry regarding artist welfare and contract disputes. It may prompt discussions about improving working conditions and contract terms for young performers in the entertainment sector.

JYP USA Entertainment’s Statement
Dear All,
This is JYP USA.
We would like to address the recent lawsuit filed by Kiera Grace Madder (hereafter referred to as “KG”) and her public statements on social media.
In May of this year, KG left group residence and initiated discussions through her legal representatives. In response, we temporarily suspended VCHA’s planned activities and engaged in extensive discussions with KG’s representatives to explore potential resolutions. However, recently we have not received any response from KG’s representatives, leaving our legal representatives awaiting further communication.
We deeply regret KG’s decision to file a lawsuit and make unilateral public statements containing false and exaggerated claims. This action has caused significant harm to the other members of VCHA and JYP USA who have been working diligently on their upcoming album and projects for early 2025.
JYP USA will take all necessary measures to ensure that neither the other members of VCHA nor JYP USA suffer further harm as a result of this matter.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
JYP USA
