VCHA KG Officially Leaves JYP Entertainment Following Contract Dispute
KG, a member of the global girl group VCHA, has officially ended her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment.
On August 8, JYP Entertainment stated,
“JYP America and KG have mutually agreed to terminate her contract as a member of VCHA in a smooth and respectful manner. Both parties wish each other the best in their future endeavors.”
KG’s departure comes months after she publicly announced in December 2023 that she had decided to leave the group due to what she described as “unfair treatment by certain staff members” and a “mentally unhealthy environment.” She subsequently filed a legal request to terminate her contract, bringing the issue into the public eye.
At the time, KG cited concerns over the encouragement of disordered eating, excessive work hours, restrictions on privacy, and issues with the company’s revenue structure.
“I don’t want to make music in this kind of environment. I hope this decision contributes to change in the K-pop system,” she wrote on social media.
In response, JYP America issued a statement denying the allegations, saying:
“False and exaggerated claims have been unilaterally shared with the public. We will respond through appropriate legal procedures moving forward.”
VCHA was formed through the global project A2K, a collaboration between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records under Universal Music Group. The group officially debuted in January 2024.
Originally a six-member group, VCHA first saw member Kaylee depart due to health reasons. With KG’s exit, the team now continues as a four-member act — Lexi, Camila, Kendall, and Savanna — under their newly rebranded name, GIRLSET.
