Yoo Hwe Seung, who attended the ceremony to celebrate, was canceled without knowing why. Despite the unprecedented cancellation, the Seoul Drama Awards has remained silent for two days and at last they apologized.
The 19th Seoul Drama Awards was held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 25th. This year’s Seoul Drama Awards was the largest ever, with 346 dramas from 48 countries attending. The celebratory stage, which was announced on this day, was also spectacular. NMIXX, ZEROBASEONE and N.Flying Yoo Hwe-seung’s stage were prepared. However, it was only NMIXX that the stage was sent out normally. ZEROBASEONE had an advertisement inserted in the middle of the stage, and Yoo Hweseung’s stage was canceled just before the performance.
N.Flying announced the situation to fans by posting on its official SNS, “We would like to inform you that the celebratory performance of the SBS Seoul Drama Awards 2024 scheduled today has been canceled due to on-site delays.” Yoo Hwe Seung also told fans, “I don’t know the details,” adding, “I was behind the stage because it was just my turn, but my name suddenly disappeared, and I heard that the stage skipped my turn, so I left the venue in a hurry. There is nothing I can say prematurely.”
Yoo Hwe Seung, who had to leave work without being able to perform without knowing, apologized to the fans who waited for him, saying, “My fans, who came to meet me from the morning must have been waiting, but I’m sorry for not taking care of me properly,” but the Seoul Drama Awards has been avoiding the answer for two days, saying, “We are checking it” without an apology or explanation of the situation.
The apology that came later
Since the announcement of the cancellation, fans have been asking Seoul Drama Awards to explain the situation. The Seoul Drama Awards 2024 (SDA 2024) opened its mouth to the controversy over the group N.Flying’s Yoo Hwe Seung’s stage cancelation.
The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee said in an official statement on the afternoon of the 26th, “We apologize for the failure of N.Flying Yoo Hoe-seung to perform at the Seoul Drama Awards 2024 Awards held on the 25th.”
The organizing committee said, “In the process of the award ceremony being broadcast live, the on-site situation was delayed more than expected at the end of the first part, so the performance was inevitably not held,” adding, “We sincerely apologize to the artists who prepared the best stage, the fans who would have waited for the stage.”
They also stressed that they would prepare more thoroughly and make efforts to prevent the same situation from recurring in the future, saying, “We conveyed our deep apology to the artist immediately after the live broadcast, and we told him that the same thing would not happen again in the future.”
