YouTuber Sojang asking for protection
The operator of the YouTube channel “Taldeok Camp,” YouTuber Sojang, who was sentenced to compensate for damages by intensively harassing celebrities with various fake news and false information complained of invasion of privacy.
Recently, Korea Central, the legal representative of the YouTuber, blinded her page on ‘Nam Wiki’ containing information related to the controversy over the her YouTube channel.
The Korea Central said to Namuwiki, “As an agent who has been legally delegated all authority to request temporary action from the operator of the YouTuber Sojang, we would like to request temporary action and deletion of documents posted on your (Namuwiki) site.”
“The page contains a number of information of the personal information of the operator, which causes operator to suffer from extreme personal information leakage and invasion of privacy,” he said.
In addition, the Korea Central Law Firm said, “The sender (Korea Central), a law firm, asks your company to take appropriate measures to delete this post as soon as possible and prevent related posts with the same or similar contents from being rewritten.”
According to the request, the Namu Wiki page related to the YouTuber has not been accessible since the beginning of last month.
Meanwhile,YouTuber Sojang, has been maliciously slander K-pop stars while running a channel. Accordingly, Jang Won Young and Starship have been filing civil and criminal lawsuits against A and overseas lawsuits since November 2022.
In January, the 210th Civil Servant (Chief Judge Park Ji-won) of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of some of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit for damages filed by Jang Won Young against YouTuber. However, the YouTuber filed an appeal against this, and in February, she applied for a suspension of compulsory execution of the provisional execution sentence.
Last month, the 9-3 Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Central District Court (Appeals) made a decision on the mediation committee in relation to Jang Won Young’s lawsuit for damages worth 100 million won against A, the operator of the channel. The mediation committee is a procedure in which the court induces the resolution of the conflict between the two sides through compromise.
However, on the second hearing of Starship Entertainment’s lawsuit for damages worth 100 million won against the operator on the 4th, Jang Won Young’s lawyer said, “It is not possible to determine how much of A’s total profits are from videos made due to defamation and obstruction of business. She deleted the account, so we can only figure out the total profits.”
In response, the court set the next date for June 19, saying, “It seems necessary to check whether the video content is false or not.”
