Youtuber Sojang is being torned off
Most of K-Pop lovers might have heard about YouTuber Sojang. The YouTuber Sojang, who spread malicious rumors about many Kpop idols was sued by Starship entertainment and IVE. Officially, IVE and its agency Starship Entertainment won a claim for damages against YouTuber Sojang.
On the morning of the 17th, the legal newspaper reported, “The 210th Civil Case Department (Chief Judge Park Jiwon) of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a 100 million won damages lawsuit filed by IVE and Starship against Park (the Youtuber’s last name) on the 21st of last month.”
According to the legal newspaper, the court ordered 100 million won. The court added, “pay the money calculated at each rate of 12 percent per annum by the date of full payment.” Park has to pay not only interest but also court costs happened during the lawsuit.
Starship’s statement
In a related development, Starship stated on the same day, “We have been conducting civil and criminal lawsuits and lawsuits abroad since November 2022 against the YouTuber, who has been continuously harassing our artists. Park was severely defamatory through its continuous dissemination of false information. The informations which not only hindered our work but also caused serious pain to our artists and fans. In response, we are doing our best to hold civil and criminal liability to the end through the ongoing lawsuit.”
According to Starship on this day, the criminal complaint against the Park was recently sent from the police to the prosecution. They are waiting for a strict legal judgment. But it is said that the judicial judgment has not been made at the present stage. Starship then said, “There are two civil lawsuits filed separately with the YouTuber Sojang. The civil lawsuit filed by the company is scheduled to be argued in January. The lawsuit that artist Jang Wonyoung herself filed was ruled in favor of the agenda because the YouTuber did not respond. We will inform you once again through the official position after all legal trials are over.”
